Join UN Human Rights, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Alliance Française for “Stand-Up for Human Rights”, a night of comedy in English in Bangkok!
The stand-up comedy show will be held on the 10 December 2023 at 6 PM at the Alliance Française auditorium and is free and open to the public. Those interested are invited to reserve their tickets on the Alliance Française website. Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis and the show will be conducted in English.
Organised by the UN Human Rights Office in Bangkok in partnership with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Alliance Française Bangkok, the event will be opened by Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
Pakistani-Malaysian comedian Kavin Jay will be hosting the show and will be joined by popular comedians from across the region including Ligwina Hananto from Indonesia, Manjeet Sarkar from India, Sam See from Singapore, Maitreyi Karanth from Hong Kong-China and Tofiga Fepulea’i from Samoa. Popular Thai comedian Mo Rodvanich will complete the line-up.
Together they will share with the public their stories on human rights issues including identity, migration, gender including LGBTIQ, inclusion, caste and racial justice.
Launched by UN Human Rights, the Human Rights 75 initiative aims to rekindle the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone instrument adopted in 1948 to promote, protect and respect the rights of every person without discrimination.
The ‘Stand-Up for Human Rights’ comedy show provides a space for people to come together and stand up for human rights, where creativity and laughter can confront fear, hatred and discrimination. The central message of the event is that sharing stories helps bring us together and laughter reminds us that we have more in common than what divides us.
